It’s my Silly’s 5th birthday today. She taught me a very valuable lesson that I wanted to share with you. While I was out birthday shopping I just knew that she would love this Hello Kitty bike. She loves all things Hello Kitty! She also needed a new bike. Go Mom, this is a win-win so I thought.
What My Daughter Taught Me
Stick to the list! That’s what she taught me. She loved the bike but it wasn’t something that was on her list. She asked me if we could take the bike back and get more toys instead.
1. Is she serious? Doesn’t she know the trouble I went through to get that bike and hide it?
2. It wasn’t on her “What I want for my birthday list.”
3. We could take it back and she can pick out toys that she would get more use out of and she can continue using her old bike.
I’m rusty on my child development class! 5 gifts are still better than 1 at this age. How could I have forgotten? It wouldn’t have mattered if each toy cost $5! 5 is still more than 1 in the eyes of a 5 year old.
Lesson learned, stick to the list and remember 5 is better than 1.
What do you think? Would you have taken the bike back?
