The idea might not be new but it’s the first time that I have seen it and because I clicked through and was dazzled it quickly became one of my how to tips! Let me share a little Twitter background first. You know those direct messages that are auto sent after you have followed someone? I get them so often that I rarely even bother to open the direct message envelope to read the contents any more. After five years on Twitter I’m immune, which why I’m sharing this Twitter marketing tip with you.
Take a page from Bobbie Cribbs! He sent me this tweet below. Clever! It wasn’t in my direct message box, instead it was in my feed. Next he used the phrase “welcome message to let you know what you’re getting yourself into” which made me laugh. Who doesn’t want to engage with someone that has a good sense of humor? I clicked through and it brought me to this page.
Bonnie Cribbs created a “Welcome New Twitter Follower” page. He told me a little more about himself and what kind of tweets he would be sending out and provided links for his other social media accounts. Such a simple idea that got results. He broke through my wall and instead of hiding behind a direct message he put it out there openly. I can respect that! In fact I admire his transparency. There you have it folks, a new twist for this seasoned social media user. What do you think? Will you be taking a page out of the Bonnie Cribbs book?
