Take control this year and get your Total Money Makeover.
It’s that time again! At the end of every year we dump the piggy banks for each of the kids and we make their “big bank” deposit. We have been preparing our children for a couple of years now. We have family discussions about what they can do with that money when they become adults. They can use it for college, a car or a place to live. They need to be prepared for the future. It’s up to us to help them with that preparation.
We will not teach our children to rely on anything like social security for their future. My husband and I certainly don’t include social security in our retirement plans. As a family we do practice the steps of the Financial Peace University plan outlined by Dave Ramsey. Our family has been working the steps since the fall of 2009. We spent the entire year of 2012 working on step number six, which is to pay off our home. The plan is to get it paid off this year!
In order to stay focused with our eyes on the prize we do listen to Dave Ramsey’s talk radio show. It’s almost like a game now. My husband and I will listen to the caller’s story and try figure out what Dave will say. We also facilitate Financial Peace University at our church. When Dave comes to Houston we do our best to see him in order to keep that fire burning! On April 20th he will be coming to Houston at Grace Community Church which is where EntreLeadership was held last year.
What do you think? Are you ready for a Total Money Makeover? Do you need to get back on track? This year we plan to take our boys! It’s never too early to start teaching your kids the value of a dollar. Find out more about our journey with Dave Ramsey.
