Google is going to have a time with this post because I’m pretty sure “Svervable” is not a word (much less a key word) but bare with me. This is a Sverve tip that you need to know. Sverve is a fairly new site bringing bloggers and brands together. Bloggers want to be endorsed, think Linkedin because it raises our influence score, think Klout.
We pick 5 topics that we would like to be influential in and use the Sverve book marklet to share articles that pertain to those topics, think Pinterest. It’s called leaving a tip and Sverve like Pinterest pulls images to share that tip.
Make sure your images are at least 150 * 150.
There was a specific post that I wanted to share on Sverve by Mocha Dad. It’s one of my favorites but I ran into a little problem, with his permission I’m going to show you a few screen shots to make sure your articles are svervable too.
Mocha Dad’s post contains text, a video and his logo within the post. Sverve doesn’t recognize videos like Pinterest. When I tried to share his article through Sverve these were my options.
Can you see the problem? None of those images pertain to his post or his brand. I’m all in favor of branding! When I used my Pinterest book marklet I got these options and there is a lot more to choose from.
Obviously there is a Mocha Dad logo at the end of his post that Pinterest is picking up and Sverve is not. My next idea was to look on his site to see where his images were being pulled from on Sverve. As you can see they are all housed in his side bar.
Interestingly enough his smallest image is 150 * 150. You can see the size of the image by right clicking and selecting inspect element. That option will show you all the behind the scenes coding. I wanted to dig a little deeper and see the image size of his logo that is at the end of each post.
Here you can see two different sizes. This tells me that this image is being reduced in some way. I’m not in the back end of his website so I can’t tell you exactly what is happening but only speculate. When I click on his logo it brings up a very large logo. My guess would be it was uploaded in a much larger size and then reduced.
What can Mocha Dad do?
- Not worry about it at all. – His posts can be turned into “Tips” if they don’t contain a video ONLY.
- Go into picmonkey.com and reduce his logo to 150 * 150 and reload it and use that file in the posts that he writes from this day forward.
- Wait for Sverve to fix their coding in order to share a “video tip”
Many bloggers are on Sverve and they are sharing articles! Why not make sure your site is ready to get shared a little more?
