What does work hard mean? Take yourself out of your comfort zone. I’m on a mission, mission possible. A chain of events have happened lately to put me in the right mind set. First, I read a book about what it takes physically, to serve for our country. Self discipline is the word that stood out most for me.
After the internship ended, school started and all the kid birthday parties were over I stepped on the scale. That number took me back two years. Two years worth of blood sweat and tears. In a matter of four months all the work in the last two years was gone just like that!
The most important lesson learned from the last four months? We are not designed to be chained to a computer, desk and phone. For me personally, it’s bad for my health. The internet doesn’t sleep. Now, I’m faced with some really tough choices. Now, it’s my job to get the weight off again and if that means turning working out into a job then that’s what I’m going to do.
The Purple Monkey 10K run was August 31st. The first 3 miles were good but after the 4th mile I wanted to stop. There was a long stretch in direct sun that did me in for the race. It took everything I had to finish with a run/walk in one hour and twenty – two minutes. Frankly that is too much weight for my body to be carrying. My toes are paying for it with bruises and blisters but it doesn’t matter because I finished.
There was a time when I would sign up for a 5K just because I wouldn’t run it on my own. Now I can and I sign up for 10Ks because I won’t do those on my own. What a long journey it’s been but I’ve progressed.
It’s time to find the self discipline and work hard to get back to where I started at the beginning of the year. I refuse to let it all go. I’m taking the steps I need to take to get another program in place. TRX is on the menu along with swimming laps. It’s time to mix it up!
