Mint Oreo Truffles

August 31, 2014 by Pamela M. Kramer 1 Comment

I can keep you in the loop with great tips and laughs straight to your inbox with my monthly newsletter. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Got questions? I might have an answer! Leave it in the comments.

Here is an easy recipe for Mint Oreo Truffles that requires three main ingredients. Even though the mixture can get a bit messy it’s still fun to make them. We tried something similar four years ago with this Oreo Truffle recipe.

Mint Oreo Truffles

 Easy Mint Oreo Truffles

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg mint oreo cookies, divided
  • 1 container whipped cream cheese  (12oz)
  • 1 pkg (16 oz.) Coating (Chocolate or Vanilla microwavable tray at H-E-B) OR
    • 2 pkgs (8oz each) baker’s semi sweet baking chocolate, melted

Directions:

  1. Crush 5 of the oreos to fine crumbs for later use. Yes, include the filling in the middle of the cookies.
  2. Crush the remaining 25 cookies to a fine crumb and place in a medium bowl.
  3. Add cream cheese to the 25 crushed cookies and mix until well blended.
  4. Roll cookie mixture into balls (it’s easier if you use your hands), about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Dip balls into melted chocolate and place on the wax paper covered baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.

That’s it! Place them into your refrigerator until firm which will be about 1 hour.  You can store the leftover truffles, covered in the refrigerator. We were able to make 28 from this recipe.

We tried the chocolate coating first and were able to get one but the chocolate dried up and when I tried to warm it up again, it turned into a muddy mess! I tried every suggestion on the interwebs but nothing worked. We decided to go with the vanilla coating.

As you can see my helper has grown much taller in four years. What do you think? Have you tried these? Let me know in the comments.
