How Did I Do After 30 Days of The Paleo Challenge?

“Regardless of the outcome, this has been some form of a learning experience for everyone involved. If you just “lost” one lb. you have gained many other things. New recipes, new resolve, practice cooking for yourself, breaking old habits, remembering how crappy food makes you feel, etc. I hate to say this but anyone who tells you they’re giving you a special fat blasting routine is lying to you. The single biggest thing you can do to blast fat is eat right. I’ve done experiments on clients and used everything from cardio-based routines, circuits, complexes, heavy power lifting, and just about any combination of training you can come up with over the years and the results are always the same – the ones who lose the most weight have the diet well and truly dialed in. Get your diet right and train in a way you enjoy and I’ll guarantee you’ll look great regardless of what the “experts” say.” – Strength Coach Shaun McCrary

30 Day Paleo Challenge

I didn’t think there would be that big of a difference in the before and after photos but just by looking it’s obvious to me that yes there is a difference. Even though I rocked it out in January losing 12 pounds and didn’t do so great this time, food makes a huge difference. This could have been so much better but without photos I don’t really see these things. It’s hard for me to see a difference but other people do so I just program myself to say “thank you” and move forward. I didn’t alter these photos but I did crop the heck out of them just because I don’t think it’s appropriate to post the originals. Maybe next time I will try a swim suit. The one that I own is just to swim laps.

What you see is the 25.2 BMI and at the end of the challenge you can see there is a bit of a decrease. In a new tab I opened up a BMI calculator and put in my numbers.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
  • Overweight = 25–29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

This is the first time in YEARS that I have been in the “normal” weight range. As you can see I just made it in there within the last 30 days! I’m a little blown away right now. You see when I started getting serious about losing weight after I knew we were done having children I had my doctor send me all my notes from my visits. The last time I weighed this much was September 1999 and when we married in March of 1998 I was 125 pounds. WOW!!!! I have been bouncing around the scale just from having babies reaching my highest weight of 224 pounds right before I had our second son. That is insane and I can’t believe it has taken this long to get back here. There has been no magic bullet for me. If there was I would have shared it with you already!

The only thing that has been consistent is working out and being up for a challenge when it’s thrown at me. I’m not going to say that I have consistently eaten clean because I have my moments but I know what it can do for me if I do. I’m really excited to see how the year plays out for me. Thanks for all the support! Your words of encouragement are welcomed and appreciated.
