That’s right….Kia and I were right to get to bed early!
We got a serious ab kicking from @OCFitbody! He called it #50ShadesofPain and boy was he right! We had a high intensity work out that had us grabbing for towels to dry off. I think I shocked Caryn Bailey — @Rockinmama with all my sweat and my red face. We were doing some serious burpees, lunges, push ups, jump squats, bridge jumps and oh yes all that fun ab work! But it was ok because we all showered and headed over to Dole Headquarters across the street for breakfast.
Our tour guides were Digital Marketing Manager Micheal Contreras and Senior Vice President – Dole Nutrition Institute, Jennifer Grossman. We toured the employee cafeteria and headed outside for fruity breakfast with the most beautiful view. Afterwards we headed back inside for a tour of the Dole kitchen but first we stopped to check out this vending machine that Tina Kelley — @MadHatterMom is standing in front of. Each employee gets one serving of fruit per day using the honor system. Vice President of Marketing and Branding Marty Ordman gave us a company history lesson. Senior business manager Naomi Chan Hansen introduced us to their newest line of Nutrition Plus products which include chia milled and whole seeds and chia and fruit clusters. We were given so many recipes! I will share those with you in a later post. Also we got to try their single servings of frozen fruit mixed with Greek yogurt. What an amazing morning!
In the afternoon I finally got my Subway for lunch and Joshua Medcalf joined us and gave a really great motivational talk. We all had to complete a questionnaire so that he could tailor his talk to our needs. He really made us think! I taped it but I’m not allowed to release it but I can’t wait to go back over the talk and make more notes. He did give us a card that provides tips on how to handle mistakes, keys for visualization, train to be clutch tips and keys with affirmations. You can visit his site Train To Be Clutch to get a better idea of what he is like as a speaker.
After lunch we headed back to Dole for more new product information. This time it was with Paul Grossman, PhD who is a scientist and heads the nutrition research and labeling department.
He gave us a lot of information about the benefits of Vitamin D. Dole is in incorporating that knowledge into new products like the plant based Portobello Mushroom Powder. 1 tsp of Mushroom Powder = 150% of your daily value! Shake it on your steak, chicken or anything else you fancy and get your Vitamin D intake. Dole is also expanding their science into a skin care line. That’s right Dole is branching out in a whole new way with Skin Authority.
After our tour at Dole it was time to head over to the California Health and Longevity Institute for another tour! Do you watch Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition? I do! This is where Chris Powell brings his clients! It’s in that very kitchen that they are showing you how to cook healthy. There is a garden right outside where they grow fresh veggies. We also got to tour the spa and the weight room. Outside is just as beautiful! There are also hammocks around the grounds and if you like you can go lay on one and relax for the rest of the day.
We ended the evening at the home of Mamavation’s Leah Sedgie. It was awesome to just hang out and relax with great food and friends. It was great to finally meet Andrea Emilien — @AndreaEmilien in person and just have time to hang out and catch up! Fitcation was sponsored by Dole, Four Seasons Westlake Village, the California Health and Longevity Institute, Sip the Good Life, New Balance, Subway and Leading Lady Bras. These sponsors provided the attendees with lodging, meals, activities and product during the event. As an attendee, I was asked to give my honest opinion and all opinions are 100% my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of these organizations. One more day of Fitcation left to go to read about the final day of Fitcation click here.
