The last time I left you I was in midst of figuring out what the heck to do with myself so let me give you a quick update of my progress while I try to find a new routine for fitness. Crossfit Unity my home of two plus years, let’s start here. I had not been there since Halloween of last year due to re-injury but went this past week to meet up with my good buddy Dean for a work out. It’s different there without my trainer and the place has a lot of changes. There are a lot of new people there but some really awesome people still remain there as well. Coach Dustin is doing a great job and is very passionate! Will it be my permanent gym again? Probably not but I enjoy meeting up with my friends to work out.
My previous trainer (of three plus years now???) has started a new gym in Galveston CrossFit Tidal Wave and I have been out there a few times. There are a few people out there that I enjoy working out with that came over from Unity. There are a lot of younger members there and they are all very nice. The distance is tough though. Will this place be my permanent gym? Probably not but I do miss my trainer and the programing. I keep up with his rants and wods through their website. I love his Coach’s Corner series. I hope to continue meeting up with friends out there to work out and keep in touch.
Another friend of mine Ana had invited me to try her gym CrossFit Bay Area. I like it there and there is a lot of coaching experience. It’s not air conditioned but right now there is a nice breeze! It’s fun to meet up with her. She has had some really amazing results there. She is so much stronger. Meanwhile every place I go I’m getting my butt kicked. Could it be the inconsistent programming? It’s possible I guess. Will this be my new home? Probably not, it’s a lot more expensive and then there’s the distance again.
Today the CrossFit Gods smiled upon me and the CrossFit gym, literally around the corner from my house opened up an 11am class! Could this be my new home? It’s possible because I can’t argue with the distance. The coaching was really good today but I don’t anything about him. The guys that were there were very nice and encouraging. It’s sort of like switching schools, new teachers, new kids to get to know but we are all adults to… you know… There isn’t any a/c there either. They have a huge ceiling fan though and there’s a nice breeze right now.
Basically I’m on the CrossFit Tour of 2013. I enjoy it, really I do. It’s one of the most humbling experiences. I wish I would not have sat out as long as I did but I guess I just had to wait for everything to line up in my favor. The gym around the corner opened up a time that works but it’s only 3 days a week but I will totally take it. That gives me so much more time and I don’t have to rush there or rush home or rush to pick up kids. It basically takes the rush out of my day. I NEED that so much!
On top of finding a new routine I have been doing Paleo for Lent. That’s right! If you have caught my feed on Instagram or my Fan Page album you have seen my struggles. Some times it’s easier to capture a photo than to blog about it because as they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words!” Google would disagree with that word count but who cares.
Are you ready for the Mamavation 5K this weekend? I haven’t ran very much at all this year but I think it’s just the kick start that I need to get back into the groove of things.
Find me on Daily Mile – I had not realized that I haven’t give you guys an update since 1/21! Obviously I’m out of my Monday routine. I’m working on it and I appreciate the support and encouragement while I piece my routine back together.
