Meet my friend Geri, today was her very first time to Crossfit. She has done it before but not here with us at Crossfit Unity. Geri and I know each other from our local Adventure boot camp and a running boot camp. We have crossed paths in several running races along the way. She always sees me talking about my Crossfit work outs on Facebook so she decided to join me today.
Our strength work out of the day is front squats 5-3-1 (65, 85, 105) not bad, not great but it’s progress. The work out of the day was all kinds of fun! Wall Ball Burpees with a ten pound med ball – 3 reps increase by 1 rep per round for 12 minutes. I only made it to 10 reps and then I had to bear crawl the rest of the time. It was ugly!
Note to self: must work on my core.
How did Geri do? She killed it and had the shortest time. She beat us ALL. She was the last one standing in the final round while the rest of us were bear crawling. Amazing job for her first time. I think she will back. 🙂
That is exactly how Crossfit goes! Some days you are the first one done and other days you are the last. Crossfit has a way of helping you find your weak spots. Those are the ones you know you need to work on. In the beginning everything feels like a weak spot. Stick with it, you do get better. As with everything in life, consistency is the key.
Editors update: Geri never made it back to Crossfit Unity but she did make it to our local Crossfit gym in Deer Park. She and her daughter are doing it together. She works as a personal trainer as well as volunteering her time to help out people at her church to get fit and lead healthier lives.
