Out of the prompts suggested I’m going with 10 things I miss about being a kid. At first it was hard to think of things but the more time I took to ponder the further down the list I got. Gathering old photos really helped jog my memory.
Some days I’m a really tired mom and that’s the time I long for less responsibility and time to myself. When you’re a child the days go on forever, the summer seems like it’s never going to end. When you’re an adult everything is so much faster and you just want to slow down.
10.) I miss when having cake didn’t matter. I could eat cake and not worry that it was going to go to my hips or any where else for that matter. As an adult trying to stay in shape can be exhausting but I still work out most days. As adults we have to create our own gym classes.
9.) I miss my childhood friends. We use to play all kinds of games and we were hardly ever inside our houses. We were all over the neighborhood.
8.) I miss being able to ride a bike whenever I want. As a child I spent hours on a bike just riding back and forth and up and down my street. This Huffy bike was my favorite!
7.) I miss old school toys like this portable record player. I had those books with the records, “ding turn the page.” I would listen to that Snow White record over and over.
6.) I miss my Grandpa who passed away in 1997. In that particular photo I’m crying because he is upset with me. I wanted to see the fish he caught and when he or my grandmother lifted the fish to show me they lost them right back in the water. He was not happy.
5.) I miss the fun days of summer when we would go to the pool and what you looked like in a bathing suit didn’t matter either. We spent hours in the pool and I loved it. The city would host parties at night and it was fun.
4.) 1,2,3 Spotlight! Oh my goodness that was a fun game to play in the dark. We played it all the time at night with the neighborhood kids. One person is it and everyone hides and you go looking for them with the flash light. Good times!
3.) I miss hanging out with my grandmother. I’m so busy all the time with my own kids. I miss those sleepovers. We would play card games and eat lots of grapes and other goodies.
2.) I miss my Godparents. They are both deceased but they were wonderful and I’m lucky to have gotten to grow up with them.
1.) I miss having a bed time! Some nights just go on and on. Someone please tell me to go to bed.
